Karthik Ram is Head of Science at Valency, where he sets the direction for what the company builds across product, engineering, and marketing. His focus is on making AI actually useful for research: tools that meet scientists where they already work and fit into the infrastructure they rely on. Building for that ecosystem rather than against it is the difference between acceleration and lock-in. He is also a research scientist at UC Berkeley's Institute for Data Science, with a background in ecology, biodiversity informatics, and open science infrastructure.
